Samsung L700
UMTS 2100Mhz with video calls, Office document viewer (but no editor), High quality 2.1″ display, Metallic body and solid construction, Quad-band GSM support plus GPRS and EDGE, FM radio with RDS, microSD card slot (supports cards up to 8GB), Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with LED flash Smart dialing
The design:Samsung L700 measures 109 x 46 x 12.8 mm and weighs 107 grams. The phone has a bit old fashioned look but it shows at the first glance that it is made of very high quality materials. The Samsung L700 with its large keys and metallic finish makes an impression of a very reliable mobile device. It handles very well and as the keys are well placed they are very comfortable to use. The front of the Samsung L700 is dominated by the 2.1” display with slightly disappointing 176 x 220 pixels resolution. Above the screen are the video call camera and the earpiece, whereas below it you will find the comfy and responsive keypad. On the right side of the phone is the universal connectivity port, together with a volume rocker. On the left side of Samsung L700 are the shutter key and the microSD memory card slot. As in most Samsung phones there are neither controls nor ports on both the top and the bottom of the phone. The metallic finish of the Samsung L700 is visible also at the back of the phone where you can also find the 2 megapixel camera lens and the LED flash. The built quality is really good so even after prolonged use when you drop the phone on a pavement it should survive easily.
Performance:The Samsung L700 does not cause any troubles with reception or voice quality. The Samsung L700 is a very fast performer, too: all actions are performed instantly. Thanks to the very good file manager you can manually organize all the files in your phone which is always a good thing. The phone’s music player can display album art or run in the background. The sound quality is very good and as you can sort your music library by artist, genre, album it is easy to go through. The Samsung L700 has also a radio with RDS which also can run in the background. The only slightly disappointing thing about the multimedia in Samsung L700 is the picture gallery which does not allow you to view your photos fullscreen. It is the more surprising as you can watch your videos fullscreen and in landscape mode too.

Samsung L700 has a 2 megapixel, fixed focus camera with a LED flash which might not sound too proud. The maximum resolution in 1600 x 1200 and there is no autofocus, but the image quality is quite nice actually. The colors are good, as is the detail level and noise so despite their quite small size the photos made with Samsung L700 are quite useable especially if you know how to make use of features such as white balance, color effects, or shooting mode. Unfortunately, whereas the image quality is good, the video quality is simply poor. The Samsung L700 can only record in QCIF resolution and at 15 fps which says it all.The last thing I need to say about the Samsung L700 is its poor website browser. Although the sites are rendered almost like on your Mac or PC there is no mouse pointer or ‘find on page’ feature so navigating through the pages or finding something can be a pain in the a.
User interface / use:There are no easily customizable themes on the Samsung L700 so you will have to make do with what you get. The phone’s phonebook can store up to 1000 contacts with multiple fields for each contact. Of course, you can group the contacts and assign ringtones or photos to groups or individual contacts. As always with Samsung the phone has a few dialling animations which might be fun. The phone also comes with a calculator, unit converter, stopwatch, voice memo recorder and world time application. All in all the, Samsung L700 is quite a good and versatile phone as long as you don’t intend to browse the Internet with it.Selected Samsung L700 features and specifications:GENERAL2G NetworkGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 19003G NetworkUMTS 2100DISPLAYTypeTFT, 256K colorsSize176 x 220 pixels, 2.1 inchesRINGTONESTypePolyphonic, MP3CustomizationDownload, order nowVibrationYesMEMORYPhonebook1000 entries, Photo callCall records30 dialed, 30 received, 30 missed callsCard slotmicroSD (TransFlash), up to 8GB, buy memory
